Morrat

Morrat was a Skrull warlord who was driven by an ambition to conquer Earth and rule the Skrull race, in defiance of his king. He was close to the king's daughter Anelle—though Anelle genuinely loved him, for Morrat the relationship was largely political in nature.

Morrat was responsible for the Skrulls' attacks on Earth in the early 1960s, each of which failed at the hands of the Fantastic Four. In 1964, on Morrat's orders, the Super-Skrull returned to Earth and imitated Franklin Storm, father of Human Torch and Invisible Girl. In the process, Storm was beamed back to the Skrull home planet. When the Four defeated Super-Skrull, Morrat sent Franklin back with a laser weapon attached to his chest that would fire upon his arrival, intending to kill the Fantastic Four on sight. Instead, Franklin took the brunt of the blow when he returned to Earth, sacrificing himself to save his children and their allies.[1]

Several months later, the Fantastic Four arrived on the Skrull home world seeking vengeance for Franklin's murder. Morrat aimed to capture and defeat the Four himself and use their defeat as leverage to rule the Skrull empire. They outsmarted him however, and upon learning of his treason, the king ordered Morrat's death. As Skrull soldiers fired upon Morrat, Anelle jumped in front of their guns in an attempt to save him. She failed, and would have been killed if not for Invisible Girl's protective forcefield. The king thanked the heroes, and assured them that Earth had nothing to fear from the Skrulls now that Morrat was dead.[2]
