Skrull

The Skrulls are an alien race intent on invading and conquering Earth.

Background

The Skrulls are capable of remarkable shapeshifting, able to replicate the appearance of other beings at will. This includes the ability to change the shape and size of their bodies at a moment's notice. This power is not limitless, however: when imitating heroes with unique superpowers, Skrulls are typically not able to copy those powers, and must come up with other ways to imitate them.

History

The Skrulls' first known attempt to invade Earth came shortly after the formation of the Fantastic Four. Recognizing the threat that group posed, the Skrulls resolved to eliminate them before beginning the invasion proper. A task force of four Skrulls landed on Earth and impersonated the Fantastic Four, committing crimes and causing havoc under their disguises, intending to ruin the Four's reputation and let the authorities take care of them. While this plan worked for a time, the Four soon figured it out, using Human Torch as bait to find the Skrulls' hideout. Mr. Fantastic tricked the main Skrull invasion force, resting in Earth's orbit, into believing that the planet's defenses were much stronger than they really were, and used the grounded Skrulls as evidence to prove their own innocence to the authorities. The remaining Skrulls were forced to transform into cows and had their memories hypnotically wiped.
