Ian Quinn
Ian Quinn is an American scientist, philanthropist, and CEO of mining corporation Quinn Worldwide in Earth-199999.
Biography
Ian Quinn attended the University of Cambridge with Franklin Hall, who was interested in the exceedingly rare element gravitonium and its potential applications. The two spent many nights discussing the amazing things that could be done if they could get their hands on it. They eventually grew apart, and Quinn founded a mining enterprise that spent twenty years searching for gravitonium. In late 2013, he found it and began putting it to use. His men intercepted a S.H.I.E.L.D. communication discussing the transport of an "asset," which Quinn deduced to be (now Dr.) Hall. He had his men use gravitonium to disrupt the transport and abduct Hall in what Quinn called a "rescue mission." Quinn had him brought to his mansion in Malta, which formerly belonged to the Prime Minister and possessed an underground scientific facility. He appealed to Hall's scientific curiosity in asking him for his assistance. Quinn had built a full-size gravitonium generator, but needed his help to make it work properly. Hall had in fact secretly arranged his own abduction, intending to destroy Quinn, his organization, and the gravitonium from within. Quinn held a gala that weekend, which was attended by Rising Tide hacker and secret S.H.I.E.L.D. spy Skye. Quinn caught Skye sneaking suspiciously in a hallway, and she confessed that she was there on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D. She played at being a turncoat and joining him, but in fact was buying time to install a wireless access point for her off-site S.H.I.E.L.D. allies, allowing those on-site to access Hall's lab underground. Skye escaped Quinn through the window as Hall began rapidly accelerating the gravitonium generator. Realizing the danger at hand, Quinn and his men escaped by helicopter to safety. Agent Phil Coulson in the end put a stop to Hall, stopping the generator's acceleration by knocking Hall into it and seizing Quinn's supply of gravitonium on behalf of S.H.I.E.L.D.[1]
