Franklin Hall (Earth-199999)
Dr. Franklin Hall is a Canadian physicist who is officially believed to be dead. In truth, he exists in a bizarre, unclear form of life within a large orb of gravitonium.
Biography
Franklin Hall attended the University of Cambridge with Ian Quinn, where he was interested in the exceedingly rare element gravitonium and its potential applications. The two spent many nights discussing the amazing things that could be done if they could get their hands on it: Hall recognized its dangerous potential, but Quinn's ambition was greater. They eventually grew apart, and Hall worked as a professor, eventually advising the likes of Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons while Quinn founded a mining enterprise that spent twenty years searching for gravitonium. In 2013, Hall learned that Quinn had acquired a large source of gravitonium, and knew that he had to be stopped. At the time, Hall was working under S.H.I.E.L.D. supervision, and late that year he leaked information to Quinn's organization about his guarded transport through Colorado to get himself abducted and destroy Quinn and his gravitonium from the inside. Hall's plan worked to a point, as Quinn's men indeed kidnapped him and took him to an underground lab in Quinn's palace in Malta. Quinn had built a full-size gravitonium generator, and needed Hall's help to make it work properly. Hall seemed to cooperate, but in secret caused the generator to accelerate rapidly. He planned to use it to bring down Quinn's mansion, burying Quinn and the gravitonium (and himself) and ostensibly protecting more people in the long run. Agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Phil Coulson arrived on the scene intending to rescue Hall, but upon learning his true intentions Coulson attempted to talk him down, realizing how many innocent people would be killed. Hall would not be persuaded, and Coulson ended up knocking him into the gravitonium, seemingly killing him, but in fact transforming him into a strange atomic form within the gravitonium itself. S.H.I.E.L.D. seized and stored the gravitonium, including Hall, deep wihin the Fridge.[1]
