Henry Gyrich is an American man and head of the Mutant Control Agency.

Biography

By late 1992, the Mutant Control Agency (MCA) had amassed a considerable amount of data regarding the identities and whereabouts of various mutants, deceptively claiming to be a safe outreach program for young mutants to get their parents to register them. Using this information, the MCA released its Sentinels, giant robots tasked with hunting down mutants, developed by engineer Bolivar Trask. One such target was a teenage girl named Jubilee in upstate New York, who escaped an attack with the help of other mutants from the secret group known as the X-Men. Using their mutant powers in public drew attention toward the X-Men, especially from Gyrich. The Sentinels found and attacked Jubilee once more, and Gyrich took her prisoner, holding her in the MCA's Sentinel factory in Detroit. He attempted to interrogate her regarding the other mutants, but she gave no information. Meanwhile, the X-Men infiltrated the MCA's headquarters and destroyed their mutant registration records. One of them was killed by a Sentinel in the attack, and another was captured by federal police. The mission drew further national scrutiny, and the president ordered Gyrich to end the Sentinel program, citing the potential for increased public sympathy for mutants. Gyrich returned to Trask in Detroit and informed him of the shutdown, but was intent to continue the MCA's mission in other ways. As it turned out, the X-Men soon arrived and destroyed the remaining Sentinels anyway, freeing Jubilee and forcing Gyrich and Trask to flee.[1]
