Tobias Ford
Tobias Ford was an American lab technician in Batesville, Utah in Earth-199999. In 2013, he was working in a particle-accelerator complex in Batesville, where he developed an attraction for quality-control engineer Hannah Hutchins. In November of that year, in order to get her to come by his sector, he loosened a few bolts in the accelerator, causing it to explode, seemingly killing him and three other technicians. Ford became caught between this and another world, which he believed to be Hell. He devoted his ghostlike existence to protecting Hutchins, invisibly attacking people who attempted to antagonize her, and making it seem as though she possessed the power of telekinesis. Agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Phil Coulson took Hutchins into custody on their plane known as the Bus—they wanted to help her and figure out the situation, but Ford believed they were trying to hurt her. He disabled power to the Bus and assaulted several agents onboard. The team eventually figured out Ford's true motivations: agent Melinda May encouraged him to let her go, and he faded away in peace.[1]
