Iceman, born Bobby Drake, is an American mutant hero and member of the X-Men. A teenage boy raised in New York City, Iceman is capable of manifesting and controlling ice.
Biography
When the fifteen-year-old Bobby Drake learned of his mutant powers in early 2001, he ran away from home, fearing that the mutant-hunting Sentinels would harm his parents. He was discovered by Charles Xavier, and the existing X-Men members at the time went on a mission to recruit him. The X-Men and Drake were blindsided by Sentinels, and Drake's mutant powers awoke, as he froze a falling Sentinel in place and saved several people from being crushed. X-Men member Beast dubbed Drake "Iceman," and he joined the team in earnest.[1]
