Frank Whalen

Frank Whalen was an American firefighter in Earth-199999 who responded to the Battle of New York in 2012. He and two other firefighters, Adam Cross and Tony Diaz, took a Chitauri helmet from the scene as a "souvenir." The following year, an alien virus manifested on the helmet; taking it to be rust, the three in turn attempted to clean it, contracting the virus in dying in hours, overcome with electrostatic energy. Agents and scientists from S.H.I.E.L.D. were able to seize the helmet and synthesize a cure.
