Electro, birth name unknown, is a villain in New York City who commands the power of electricity. He was given his powers through research at the hands of John Skrtic of Hammer Industries. He is heavily scarred, likely due to repeated electrical damage from the experiments. He was a former underling of Kingpin prior to the latter's exodus from the country, and is now in prison.

Biography

After acquiring superhuman control of electricity at the hands of Hammer Industries, the newly dubbed Electro's services were sold to Kingpin so that Justin Hammer could afford the contracts for the upcoming Big Apple Dome nuclear facility.[1][note 1] His first known moment of prominence came when Spider-Man attempted to infiltrate Fisk Tower in 2001; he gave the young hero a massive shock, knocking him unconscious, and threw him from the window dismissively.[2] Spider-Man was considerably more prepared when he later returned to retrieve footage of Kingpin's murder of Mr. Big. He again fought Electro and the Enforcers, but this time defeated them, dousing Electro in water to turn his conductive powers against him. Kingpin was forced to flee the country soon thereafter, and Electro and the Enforcers were arrested.[3][4]

Notes

  1. Given how long even modest construction projects generally take, Electro's origin likely occurred several years before the Dome's unveiling in 2001-2002.
