Mr. Big, born Fredrick Foswell,[note 1] was an organized-crime boss in New York City in Earth-1610 and former "underboss" of the Enforcers. After the rise of Kingpin, the once-powerful Mr. Big found himself in more of a lackey role, one he didn't take to kindly. He plotted secretly to take down Kingpin from the inside, going so far as to assist Spider-Man in his attempts to incriminate him.[1] Mr. Big wasn't shy about his defiance of Kingpin, and paid for it when Kingpin forced him to wear Spider-Man's mask and crushed his head with his colossal hands, disposing of his corpse in the East River.[2] Spider-Man later used security footage of Mr. Big's murder to publicly expose Kingpin, forcing him to flee the country.[3]
