Roscoe Sweeney
Roscoe Sweeney, commonly known as the Fixer, was an American crime lord in New York City, focusing primarily on profiting from boxing matches by rigging them ahead of time. He was an overweight, conniving man who could always be seen with a cigar in his mouth. In 1964, Fixer was the manager of the middle-aged boxer Jack Murdock, who reluctantly took him on after being unable to get booked in any fights otherwise. Fixer fixed several of Murdock's matches so that he came out on top, making Jack believe that he was undergoing a career renaissance. Finally, with Jack's reputation built up, Fixer booked him in a major contendership fight and told him to take the fall. Jack reluctantly agreed, but that night his son Matt was in the crowd: when the time came, he couldn't bear to give up in front of his son. Jack won the fight, and that night Fixer had one of his men shoot and kill Murdock in an alley. Some time later, Fixer was accosted at his hideout by a masked superhero calling himself Daredevil: secretly Matt Murdock. Daredevil easily dispatched Fixer's goons, chasing Fixer himself and the henchman who physically shot Jack down into the subway. Fixer collapsed from the exertion and suffered a fatal heart attack. His henchman frustratedly confessed and was brought into custody.[1]
