Paul de Kraft

Paul de Kraft was a criminal treasure hunter and villain who spends much of his time in Africa. De Kraft shot and killed John Rand during an expedition in the Belgian Congo, and attempted to do the same to John's son David, but was thwarted by the lion Zar. He managed to escape, and returned years later alongside Ed Kivlin to claim the emeralds from a stream he had discovered on his first trip. The two each desired more than their share of the gems, and were rightly suspicious of each other. David Rand had grown up into the jungle hero Ka-Zar, and sought revenge on his father's killer. Ka-Zar stole the guns from de Kraft's and Kivlin's camp, and de Kraft blamed Kivlin, killing him. Ka-Zar then infiltrated de Kraft's camp and, with the help of his monkey friend Nono, overcame de Kraft and his African helpers, stabbing the villain in the heart and avenging his father.
