Molecule Man
Molecule Man, born Owen Reece, is an American villain and former atomic laboratory technician from Brooklyn, New York.[1]
Biography
In 1963, Owen Reece suffered an accident at his workplace, where he had worked for 12 years. Reece was overcome with atomic energy, granting him the power of total control over inorganic molecules. For unknown reasons, Reece channeled this power through a wand. Fed up with his lot in life and realizing the immense power of his new ability, Reece dubbed himself the Molecule Man and set out to conquer Earth. Stealing the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building, Molecule Man levitated it in midair and stood atop it, declaring to the public that he was the new law. The Fantastic Four themselves took it to the new villain, but he repeatedly and effortlessly fended off their attacks with various molecular manipulations. The heroes retreated, and Molecule Man placed a glass case over the city, declaring that no one would enter or leave until the Four were his prisoners. Soon after, Molecule Man witnessed the Four's signature signal flare in the sky, and traced it to the apartment of Alicia Masters. Alicia offered him a supposed tribute, statues of the four heroes. On a lark, he attempted to alter the statues, but suffered a severe reaction as he tried to do so, causing him great pain and temporarily disabling him. The statues were actually the Four disguised in plaster, and attempting to manipulate organic matter had caused a "force feedback" that sent Molecule Man flying. A floating blue orb materialized, and Uatu the Watcher took Molecule Man away now that the Four had claimed victory. The villain's wand was left behind, allowing Mr. Fantastic to claim it.[2]
