Madam Macabre
Madam Macabre is a Chinese American woman and former villain who used a special machine disguised as a wig to change the size of special plasticized metal objects. She was defeated and brought to justice by Giant-Man and the Wasp.
Madam Macabre's life prior to fighting Giant-Man and Wasp is largely a mystery: the only account of her childhood that exists is what she told to Giant-Man, which was certainly in part a lie and may be entirely apocryphal. As she told it, when she was a young child in China, she was nearly killed in a rickshaw accident, but was rescued by a mysterious man called the Mandarin. Her grateful father declared their lives forfeit to the Mandarin, who perceived the girl's latent intelligence and sent her to a monastery for study. She falsely claimed to have learned telekinesis there and to have gained the ability to change the size of certain plasticized metal objects at will. In truth, she developed a mechanical wig linked to a device on her finger to accomplish these tasks. As an adult, Madam Macabre sought to use her abilities to attain power. She took on a henchman named Gogo, a diminutive scientist who obeyed her every whim and crafted small objects that she could enlarge. She also allied herself with a small-time criminal named Kalya to do her bidding.
Macabre saw an opportunity to ally with Giant-Man, a hero and scientist known for his own size-changing technology. Giant-Man wasn't interested in her ambitious goals however, and she instead made it her aim to take him down along with his partner, the Wasp. Macabre sent an anonymous letter to the Wasp to come to a high-class art gallery in costume. Wasp took the bait, and Macabre and her underlings in turn used her as bait to lure Giant-Man. The two heroes fell into Macabre's traps, but worked together to fight their way out, expose her wig-based scheme, and bring her to justice.[1]
