Loki's scepter

In Earth-199999, Loki's scepter is the common name for a long, pointed scepter that until 2015, and beginning no later than 2012, housed the Mind Stone. Strangely, though the Mind Stone was orange, the scepter glowed blue. How and when the scepter came to hold the stone is unknown. It was bequeathed unto Loki in 2012 by Thanos and the Other in an attempt to secure Loki's invasion of Earth alongside the Chitauri. Loki used the scepter by sticking its pointed end against the heart of his target, instantly taking control of their mind. He also used it to stab and kill Phil Coulson, an event which proved to be a rallying point for the budding Avengers. Much of the human race had no knowledge of the Infinity Stones at this time: as the scepter changed hands repeatedly over the next three years, many presumed it to be the object responsible for the demonstrated power, rather than anything inside of it. Ultron destroyed the scepter in 2015 in order to directly access the Mind Stone within.
