Donnie Gill

Donnie Gill is a former engineering student and cadet at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy in Earth-199999. In 2013, Gill was manipulated by fellow cadet Seth Dormer to research an atmospheric weapon with funding from Ian Quinn. Dormer and Gill lacked the knowledge to complete the weapon on their own: they were only able to power it in such a way as to use it as a basic ice weapon. They staged an attack on themselves as a means of luring renowned S.H.I.E.L.D. engineer Leo Fitz to the Academy, which succeeded, and he advised Gill on a better power source. Though the device was completed, Quinn was upset at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s involvement and threatened to pull out of the deal unless they demonstrate it for him. They did so, causing a massive storm around the Academy. Gill realized that what they were doing was wrong, and convinced Dormer to help him stop the storm. But as they tinkered with the device, Dormer was knocked back by a small explosion, sending him into cardiac arrest and killing him. Gill, meanwhile, was more internally affected by the device, developing ice manifestation powers. He was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.
