Xandu

Xandu is an American sorcerer. Ambitious and malicious, Xandu stole half of the powerful Wand of Watoomb while he was studying the mystic arts, and made it his life's goal to acquire the other half and complete the magical artifact. He achieved this goal in 1965 by hypnotizing a couple of large, simple-minded men into robbing the Sanctum Sanctorum of the powerful sorcerer Doctor Strange. They succeeded, but were seen by the passing hero Spider-Man. He followed the hypnotized henchmen to Xandu's home, and he and the recovered Doctor Strange were eventually able to defeat Xandu and retrieve the Wand of Watoomb. Strange decided to drain all the magical power from the Wand, leaving it inert. He also cast a memory-erasing sleep spell on Xandu, eliminating his malicious desires.
