Biography
In mid-1964, Unicorn was the latest in a series of communist agents sent to the United States to take the hero Iron Man prisoner, ostensibly to get him to defect. By coincidence, Unicorn arrived at a time when Stark was struggling to accept his lot in life as Iron Man. As a result, Stark's plant in Flushing was completely defenseless, much to the Unicorn's frustration. He injured Stark's chauffeur Happy Hogan and kidnapped his secretary Pepper Potts. Iron Man tracked him down to a house on Long Island, fighting him off long enough to return Pepper to his plant safely. But Unicorn quietly followed him, hiding a time bomb somewhere in the plant. He demanded that Iron Man become his prisoner or else the bomb would explode. Iron Man fought him as long as he could, but with no idea where the bomb was located, he was forced to surrender. Unicorn deactivated the bomb as promised and took Iron Man with him on a plane. As they flew, Iron Man stated that he had fulfilled his promise of being taken prisoner and flew out of the plane, smashing the windows and forcing its various communist-agent passengers to evacuate. Unicorn himself flew out of the plane out of Iron Man's sight and to safety, having failed in his mission.[1]
Long afterward, the Unicorn was coerced by Doctor Doom's emotion machine into attacking the Baxter Building on the day of the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. A veritable legion of villains fought a similarly powerful force of heroes defending the Baxter Building. In the end, Reed Richards used a device provided by Uatu to transport all of the villains back slightly in time and wipe their memories of these events. Reed and Sue Storm were thus successfully and peacefully married.[2]
