Biography

As an infant, the boy who would come to be known as the Red Raven was in a clipper plane with his mother that crashed on a floating island in the sky, killing all aboard except for him. The island was occupied by the people of an Avian kingdom, who took the boy to the safety of their king's castle. The king raised him as his own until he was a young man, dubbing him the Red Raven for the color of his hair and his noble nature. The environs of the island caused its inhabitants to evolve at a faster rate, resulting in Raven possessing far greater intelligence and strength than a typical human. The king entrusted Raven with a pair of "membranous wings" and tasked him with fighting the ills of the human race and make life better for those on the ground. Coming to the United States, Raven found it to be in a dire financial situation. He was soon captured by thugs loyal to Zeelmo, a greedy and shadowy crime lord who had apparently been feeding off of America's desperation to gain control of humanity. Zeelmo tried to recruit the Raven as his slave, but he refused. He fought out of Zeelmo's clutches and rescued a woman the villain had captive, escaping the hideout and blowing it up as he did so. Raven knew that despite Zeelmo's death, his henchmen were still in various locations around the city hoarding his horde of gold. Raven was able to track down their final hideout and trapped the hoodlums, now led by Ratoga, in a giant pile of their own gold before leading the police there and securing their arrest.[1]
