Perry Wade, also known as American Ace and Lieutenant Lank,[note 1] is an American pilot and mining engineer who spends his time scouring the world for minerals that might benefit mankind. Essentially by accident, Wade played a significant role in the war between Attainia and Castile D'or.[1]

Biography

While flying across Europe on business, Perry Wade happened upon a newly-waged war between Attainia and Castile D'or. After being nearly killed by a bombing run in the Attainian capital,[2] Wade saved a young woman named Jeanie from a falling wall and flew her back to her home in the countryside. He opted to leave Attainia to continue his work, but was shot down by Castile-D'orian planes. He crash-landed in Jeanie's home, causing relatively-minimal damage, and remained under her family's care while he recovered from his injuries.[1]

Recuperated, Wade, now going by "Lieutenant Lank," set forth to fighting back against Castile-D'or forces. He traveled to the small Attainian town of Tara and commandeered an Attainian plane, using it to further commandeer a Castile-D'orian bomber. Turning the bomber around, Lank located the Castile-D'orian soldiers on the edge of town and began unleashed a bombing run on them, forcing them to retreat and winning the battle for Attainia.[3] Lank continued fighting against Castile D'or, gaining a reputation to the point that he garnered the attention of their Queen Ursula. Ursula's forces managed to apprehend Lank, and he was brought to her castle. She spontaneously and surprisingly kissed him, but he began spanking her in an apparent attempt to teach her a lesson. Soldiers burst into the room, and Lank escaped through the window. His fate since then is unknown.[4][note 2]

Notes

  1. Perry Wade was known by that name in his first two appearances in Marvel Mystery Comics. Amazing Mystery Funnies and The Arrow, released by a different publisher, featured a man named "Lieutenant Lank," clearly intended to be a continuation of the Perry Wade character.
  2. It is generally accepted that the Amazing Mystery Funnies and Arrow stories were published out of order.
