Matador

The Matador, born Manuel Eloganto, is a Spanish criminal in the United States and former bullfighter. By 1964, Eloganto was a very successful but widely hated bullfighter in his native Spain, known for his cruelty towards the bulls. In his last fight, Eloganto got distracted by the jeering fans and was gored by the bull. Swift medical attention saved his life, but Eloganto blamed the event on "his fellow man," and vowed "revenge upon all mankind." In April, Eloganto suddenly disappeared from Spain, showing up months later in New York City committing crimes as the masked Matador. Though he briefly made in impact on the city with his bold, boastful crimes—including robbing a burglar-alarm company—the Matador was soon defeated by the heroic Daredevil and taken into custody.
