Looter
The Looter, born Norton G. Fester, is an American villain who was granted superpowers by a mysterious gas from a meteorite in 1966. He used his powers for criminal gains until he was brought to justice by Spider-Man.
Biography
In 1966, Norton Fester witnessed the landing of a large meteorite and recovered it, believing it to contain extraterrestrial organic material. Possessing lofty scientific ambitions despite failings in school, Fester sought assistance from scientists and financial institutions, but they showed no interest. He instead examined the rock himself, accidentally releasing a pocket of gas that imbued him with superhuman strength and agility. Fester decided to use his newfound powers for crime, adopting a costumed villain persona known as the Looter. Using his supreme physicality as well as an invention called the "dazzle light" to blind his enemies, Looter enacted a series of profitable bank robberies in New York. But the meteorite gas was a finite resource, and Fester needed to continually consume it to maintain his power. He plotted to steal another meteorite from a space exhibit in town, but when he got there he was thwarted by Spider-Man. Spider-Man and his spider sense were unaffected by Looter's dazzle light, but Looter was nonetheless able to temporarily blind and endanger the exhibit goers in order to escape before Spider-Man defeated him. Looter scouted increasing security at the space exhibit and bided his time, attacking the meteorite display while it was in transit and subject to less security. But Spider-Man was ready for his return. The two fought once more, and Looter tried to escape using a helium balloon backpack, but Spider-Man held onto him and knocked him out for police retrieval.[1]
