Joe Rogers was an American man and military veteran in the early 20th century, known for being the father of the legendary hero, Captain America, Steve Rogers. Joe was killed in action in World War I, and was honored with a Purple Heart for his bravery.[1][2][note 1]

Notes

  1. According to the Guidebook to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Steve Rogers was born in July 1918. World War I, in our universe, ended in November of that year. Visual cues in First Vengeance suggest that Joe fought in that war, which the Guidebook explicitly corroborates. Joe therefore must have died some time between Steve's conception in roughly October 1917 and the end of the war in November 1918.
