Ho Yinsen (Earth-199999)
Doctor Ho Yinsen was an Afghani scientist and surgeon. In 2009, he was captured and held captive by Ten Rings terrorist forces, who killed his wife and child. He was soon joined by American industrialist Tony Stark. Ten Rings told the two that they would be set free if Stark built them weapons and Yinsen helped. The scientists immediately realized that this was a lie, and instead started working on a way out. With help from Yinsen, Stark created a miniaturized arc reactor that he used to power a mechanized, weaponized, anthropomorphic suit that would be the basis for his Iron Man prosthesis. Yinsen sacrificed himself to buy time for Stark's escape, secretly eager to see his family again in the afterlife. Stark escaped successfully, and went on to become one of the universe's greatest heroes.[1]
