Happy Hogan (Earth-199999)
Happy Hogan is the head of security at Stark Industries. He was formerly personal bodyguard to Tony Stark.
Biography
As early as 1999, Happy Hogan was working as Tony Stark's personal bodyguard. He stood by him through his creation of the Iron Man persona in 2009[1] and its subsequent global popularity. In 2010, Hogan assisted (in his limited capacity) Black Widow in raiding Justin Hammer's compound for information on his alliance with Ivan Vanko.[2] By 2012, given Iron Man's even greater public profile and self-reliance following the Battle of New York,[3] Hogan got fed up with the futility of being his bodyguard and instead took a job as head of security at Stark Industries, answering directly to CEO Pepper Potts.
Hogan was extremely diligent in his new job, and used this diligence in keeping an eye on A.I.M. head Aldrich Killian as he met with Potts at Stark headquarters. Hogan trailed Killian's suspicious right-hand man Eric Savin to a meeting in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre with Jack Taggart. Savin handed Taggart a mysterious briefcase; Hogan bumped into Taggart, knocking the case’s small metal contents to the ground. Hogan slipped off with one of them, but was spotted by Savin, whom he soon realized had a strange regenerative factor and remarkable strength. Taggart inhaled a substance from the briefcase, and violently exploded soon after. Hogan was seriously injured in the blast, and fell into a coma. As he lost consciousness, Hogan pointed to Taggart’s fallen dogtags, understanding that Stark would digitally reconstruct the crime scene later on. This hint indeed proved vital to Stark’s investigation. Stark, Potts, and James Rhodes eventually brought down Killian's elaborate Extremis scheme, and Hogan soon made a full recovery.[4]
