Gargoyle

The Gargoyle, birth name unknown, was a high-ranking Soviet officer and scientist who obtained his nickname thanks to severe facial deformities caused by Soviet bomb tests. Using a gun loaded with will-draining pellets, he coerced the Hulk and Rick Jones to become his prisoners in the U.S.S.R. Having transformed from the Hulk during the trip, Bruce Banner convinced Gargoyle to accept a radiation operation that he promised would repair Gargoyle's deformities, albeit permanently degrade his brilliant mind. Gargoyle agreed to the operation, and it turned out successful, returning him to a normal-looking man. Gargoyle vowed allegiance to the United States, and sacrificed his life helping Banner and Jones to escape, triggering an explosion to destroy the Soviet base he occupied.
