Galactus

Galactus is a being of virtually infinite power who roams the universe, draining entire planets of their resources for sustenance and leaving them barren and dead. Galactus's origins are shrouded in mystery—he is more of a force of nature than a person. His consumption is a fact of the universe, a catalyst of the slow death of all things. At any given time, he employs a Herald of Galactus, responsible for scouting worthy planets and notifying their inhabitants of their impending doom. As of 1966, the current Herald is the Silver Surfer.

History

The Fantastic Four and the Ultimate Nullifier

In late 1965, the Silver Surfer notified Galactus of the planet Earth, a world containing abundant energy and elemental resources. Galactus arrived and landed in New York City, where the heroes known as the Fantastic Four had been made aware of his impending arrival by Uatu the Watcher.
