Biography

Saving Howard Stark

In early 1946, Howard Stark came under scrutiny when some of his inventions began to surface on the black market, triggering accusations that he was deliberately selling them to dangerous foreign entities. Stark asked his friend and Strategic Scientific Reserve agent Peggy Carter to clear his name—she would have to do so outside of the SSR's purview, putting herself at great risk in the process, but she agreed. While Stark left the country to investigate leads on some of his other inventions, he assigned Jarvis to assist Carter in tracking down his formula for nitramene. Jarvis had next to no qualifications when it came to assisting in espionage, but proved useful as a sort of "proxy" Howard Stark—he connected Carter to Stark Industries scientist Anton Vanko to trace whence a manufactured instance of nitramene had come. Carter tracked down a nitramene manufacturing operation at a derelict Roxxon refinery. Carter was able to discover only vagueries about the nitramene, as one of the culprits fled with a van full of it and left a single orb of it to explode. Jarvis helped her make a quick getaway, escaping in the nick of time before getting caught in the explosion. Carter told him that the man had mentioned something called "Leviathan", and he said he would check Stark's files for any helpful information.[1]
