Betty Ross (Earth-1610)
Betty Ross is an American woman and communications director for S.H.I.E.L.D. Ross studied at New York University with roommate Janet van Dyne before transferring to Berkeley College to pursue a degree in communications. By the late 1990s, Ross had been engaged to scientist Bruce Banner,[note 1] but called it off and put the relationship on a six-month break, citing Banner as a "toxic influence." Their relationship faded after that; Banner's transformation into the Hulk likely reaffirmed her decision to stay away from him. In 2002, Ross was appointed Director of Communications for S.H.I.E.L.D. in advance of their impending Ultimates project,[1] where she was forced into a position of interacting with Banner once more. She made no attempt to hide her distaste for Banner and his failure to reproduce the super-soldier serum, which contributed in part to his eventual retransformation into the Hulk.[2] She is the daughter of Thunderbolt Ross, a deceased military general.[3]
Notes
- ↑ By Banner's own words in 2002, he hadn't seen Ross "since they released all those special editions of the Star Wars movies," which occurred in 1997.
