Ulysses Klaue is a Dutch-Belgian black-market arms dealer and assassin operating off the coast of Africa.

Klaue's background prior to 2015 is largely undocumented. He was hired to assassinate Wakanda head of state T'Chaka at the annual Bilderberg conference, but failed. T'Chaka's refusal to negotiate with regard to Wakanda's vibranium resources had made him a target. Though Klaue was hired for the job by a third party, he took it as a matter of personal satisfaction as well: his great-grandfather had been killed by the Wakandans trying to annex the country. Klaue continued antagonizing Wakanda throughout his life, partly because vibranium's extremely high value justified the extreme risk of infiltrating the country. For his crimes, Klaue was branded on his neck with the Wakandan mark for "thief," but by 2015 was nonetheless a free man. Early that year, he was visited by a powerful A.I. named Ultron with the Maximoff twins, Wanda and Pietro, in tow. Ultron paid him billions of dollars for a large supply of vibranium, but became angered when Klaue implied he was aligned with Stark, and cut off Klaue's left arm at the elbow.[1] Klaue later became outfitted with a highly sophisticated prosthetic arm equipped with a powerful sonic cannon.[2]
