Ultimate Alliance
The Ultimate Alliance is a large "superteam" of heroes formed by Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Earth-6109 in 2006 to combat Doctor Doom and his Masters of Evil.[1]
History
Act 1
Helicarrier attack
Some time in 2006, responding to a distress call from Nick Fury, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Thor[note 1] arrived at S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier U.N.N. Alpha. The carrier was under attack from a robotic air fleet led by Doctor Doom. On the way to the bridge to consult with Fury, they met opposition from a number of Ultron robots and soon ran into Scorpion. He proudly declared that he was allied with the Masters of Evil, a new assembly of supervillains led by Doctor Doom. He refused to explain what Doom wanted with the Helicarrier, and instead attacked. The heroes took him down and continued toward the bridge.
Meeting with Fury, the heroes noted that the Helicarrier was far afield from its jurisdiction. Fury was evasive as to why. He did explain that Doom's ships had used advanced stealth technology to inflict quick and serious damage to the Helicarrier. He confirmed that "dozens of major criminals," including Ultron and Baron Mordo, were known to be associated with the Masters of Evil. Black Widow contacted Fury over the radio and informed him that the Masters of Evil had activated the launch cycle of the Helicarrier's nuclear missiles. Fury tasked the heroes with getting to the ship's launch bay and stopping them from taking off. The heroes were concerned about Widow's past as a Soviet spy, but Fury assured them that she was a reliable agent. They destroyed the consoles corresponding to the two missiles, but the second of them launched anyway. Fury radioed them and told them to get to the navigation room and trigger the self-destruct on the missile. There, they ran into Bullseye. Bullseye was responsible for attempting to launch the missiles on Doom's orders. The heroes beat him down, took his access card to the navigation computer, and safely destroyed the missile in midair.
Widow next notified them and Fury over the radio that the enemy were attacking the ship's stabilizing engines: if the engines were destroyed, the Helicarrier would crash. Fury ordered her not to engage. When the heroes arrived in the barracks on their way to the engine area, they found serious damage indicating that Widow had disobeyed Fury's orders. She was apologetic over the radio, explaining that she hadn't had a choice. They also found Widow's laptop on the floor and took it. They rescued several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were trapped in their own rooms, including Dino Manelli Jr. Opposition in the barracks heightened to include Doctor Doom's Doombots. Closer to the engine room, they found the Winter Soldier and Radioactive Man. Captain America pleaded with his former ally to call off the attack, but Bucky brushed him off. The two sides fought, but Doctor Doom radioed the villains encouraging them to destroy the engine at once.
They left for the engine room, baiting the heroes into giving chase. There, the heroes asked how Doctor Doom had managed to amass such a huge assembly of villains. Radioactive Man explained that Doom's plan would give them "all enough power to live like kings for an eternity." The heroes took them down, saving the stabilizing engine in the process. Fury next directed them to the exterior of the ship, where he said the Masters of Evil had sicced a huge creature on the critically important engine. The creature turned out to be Fin Fang Foom, the large dragon-like alien. The team commandeered a large gun on the ship's deck to help take down the creature in a tough battle. They returned to the bridge, and Fury informed them that they were going to Stark Tower to prepare for their next mission.
Stark Tower
The next morning at Stark Tower, Fury explained that S.H.I.E.L.D. had granted him the power to form a team to combat the Masters of Evil. Iron Man greeted and welcomed the heroes to his tower, which would serve as a headquarters in lieu of the damaged Helicarrier. Those involved contacted a number of other heroes who agreed to join the team.[note 2] Black Widow, Vision, and Hank Pym were also involved in S.H.I.E.L.D. operations at Stark Tower. Relations between Tony Stark and Fury—and more broadly between Stark Industries and S.H.I.E.L.D.—had soured of late after Stark had stopped developing weapons for S.H.I.E.L.D., but they remained professional. The team's next mission was to go to the Omega Base, a large mobile S.H.I.E.L.D. research facility. Dum Dum Dugan had sent a message to Fury requesting he come to the Omega Base, asking about the super-soldier serum and mentioning Dr. Bruce Banner. The suspicious thing was that Banner wasn't assigned to the serum project. The heroes were to go to the Omega Base and scope out exactly what was going on. Hank Pym also requested that they pick up the cybernetic helmet he was working on there. Still suspicious of Black Widow's allegiance, the heroes handed off Black Widow's laptop to pilot Wyatt Wingfoot in hopes of getting it to someone who could discreetly find any information of use on it. It would also be Wingfoot's job to fly one of Stark's Quinjets and transport the heroes wherever they needed to go.

Notes
- ↑ Canon in Ultimate Alliance is of course quite loose regarding which heroes went on which missions. The first mission is particularly clear in that the four heroes listed are shown in the opening cutscene. Otherwise, for the purposes of this wiki, mission lineups are chosen on a case-by-case basis based on whatever in-game information is available, usually unique conversations that only occur when a particular hero is on the team: these are considered to demonstrate narrative intent, at least in cases where the conversation is blatantly apocryphal (like Doctor Doom talking to himself).
- ↑ At this point, the Ultimate Alliance included everyone under the roster section except those who are noted as joining later.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 3.2 These characters were downloadable content in the original game. They are treated as fully canonical for the purposes of this wiki. Villainous DLC characters are naturally not given the same treatment.
