Tinkerer
The Tinkerer, birth name unknown, is an inventor and former small-business proprietor in New York City.
Biography
In 1963, the Tinkerer was using his repair shop as a front for his scheme to help an alien race invade Earth. Peter Parker brought a radio to his shop to be "repaired" for a mere ten cents, a price that struck him as suspicious. When Parker, as his heroic alterego Spider-Man, returned to the shop to investigate, he found Tinkerer and his alien cohorts planting surveillance devices in various appliances that had been brought to Tinkerer for repair. Spider-Man was caught and held captive, but managed to escape. The ensuing fight resulted in Tinkerer's lab catching fire; the aliens escaped and apparently left Earth in their spaceship, while Spider-Man was also forced to flee, grabbing what he then learned was a mask off of Tinkerer's face in the scuffle. Tinkerer's fate and true nature were left a mystery.[1]
