The Scarlet Beetle is a formerly villainous beetle who was exposed to radiation in a human atomic test and acquired exceptional intelligence. With newfound ambition, Scarlet Beetle then led an insect revolt against the human race. When Ant-Man attempted to stop it, Beetle also obtained Ant-Man's growth serum and grew to a size larger than humans. Nonetheless, Ant-Man and his loyal ants defeated the Beetle, returning it to a minuscule size and capturing it. The scientifically minded Ant-Man then counteracted the radioactivity's effects, making his foe a normal beetle once more and peacefully returning it to the wild.[1]
