The Plunderer, born Lord Parnival Plunder, is a British nobleman and pirate, and brother of Ka-Zar the Savage, Kevin Plunder. Parnival possessed an affinity for engineering and a longing for the sea in his youth, but was mocked for his ambitious technological seacraft designs. As a man, he became a pirate, seeking glory and spite rather than wealth. He amassed a sizeable crew and a scientifically advanced schooner that could transform into a submarine.

Biography

Youth

In Parnival's youth, his father, the first Lord Plunder, found the Savage Land and took from it a huge piece of ore. In experimenting with it, he found that when struck it would produce vibrations that destroyed nearby metal objects. Lord Plunder managed to break off a small piece of it, and broke that into two pieces, granting each half to his sons Kevin and Parnival. He stored the ore in a large metal shaft that could only be opened by the vibrations of the completed medallion. Foreign agents seeking the ore forced Lord Plunder to retreat, and he flew back to the Savage Land with Kevin, leaving Parnival behind. Their arrival there was evidently catastrophic, as Lord Plunder perished and Kevin suffered near-complete memory loss.[1]

Plunder family reunion

The Plunderer knew of the Savage Land and Skull Island from his father, and knew that Kevin's half of the medallion had gone with him. In exploring the Savage Land, he learned that Kevin had become the Lord of the Jungle Ka-Zar with a loyal saber-toothed tiger Zabu. In late 1965, the Plunderer's crew attacked the cruise ship Odyssey. Though his exact motivations were unclear, Plunder took as his prize the hero Daredevil, who happened to be aboard the ship. Daredevil fought valiantly, but was forced to surrender when Plunder threatened to make the ship's crew walk the plank. Plunder took Daredevil onto his submarine and to Skull Island, intending to force him into subservience while reclaiming Kevin's half of the medallion. They found Skull Island in flames, as the swamp men of the Savage Land had attacked it and fled as an act of rebellion against the realm's de facto leader Ka-Zar. Plunder led his crew ashore and they began unloading supplies—the excitement of the situation deemphasized Daredevil's ultimatum. Plunder's crew were suddenly attacked by Ka-Zar and his saber-toothed tiger Zabu. Ka-Zar used a rock to knock the Plunderer's blaster shot astray, striking and detonating a cache of explosives and forcing Ka-Zar and Zabu to flee with an injured Daredevil in tow.[2]

Plunderer and his men soon found Daredevil and Ka-Zar separately, and Parnival showed Ka-Zar his half of the medallion. Ka-Zar held his half of the medallion close even as Plunderer captured him in a metal cage. He took the men back to his castle in England, where he held Ka-Zar in a dungeonous pit and threw Daredevil into it, encouraging him to use Ka-Zar's trust for him to retrieve the medallion, for Parnival feared his brother's ferocious might. The enraged Ka-Zar instead attacked Daredevil, who bounded off Ka-Zar's back to attack the Plunderer and help Ka-Zar escape as well. The two were attacked by Parnival's underling Slagg, who was soon betrayed and killed by the butler Feepers, whom the heroes took down easily. The simpleminded jungle lord dove from the nearest window, intending to flee back to the Savage Land. Daredevil ran after him, knowing he would only get into trouble on his own. The Plunderer called the police and reported Slagg's murder, accusing Ka-Zar of the crime in an attempt to get him back under his control.[1]

Boswell, an agent of Feepers, attacked Daredevil and Ka-Zar with a grenade rifle and recovered Ka-Zar's half of the medallion. Plunderer confronted Feepers for his betrayal. Boswell burst in and tried to shoot him, but Parnival dodged and Feepers took the bullet instead. Plunderer took down Boswell and claimed the completed medallion for himself. Daredevil burst in and attacked, but the police soon arrived with a bound Ka-Zar and forced him to flee once more. The authorities took Ka-Zar to London to stand trial. Plunderer combined the medallion halves and used them to access his father's ore, which he dubbed the Plunderstone. He crafted a new costume and a special vibra-ray gun to harness the Plunderstone's power. He and a group of henchmen with plastic weapons assaulted a missile base in the north Atlantic, but Daredevil infiltrated his submarine and attacked. He radioed nearby reinforcements and informed them that plastic weaponry would counter the Plunderer effectively. Daredevil fought off the Plunderer as the military forces soon arrived and apprehended him. The defeated Plunderer confessed that his accusations against Ka-Zar were fabricated.[3]
