Marvex the Super-Robot is a robot hero created in an unknown location called the Fifth Dimension.[note 1] He[note 2] is a grey, humanoid robot and possesses remarkable strength, agility, and intelligence, including an unusual emotional sensitivity.

Biography

Marvex was created by bizarre creatures in the Fifth Dimension to serve as a slave. However, they made him exceedingly intelligent, to the point of realizing that slavery was wrong. Marvex rebelled against his masters, killing them and destroying their laboratory. A large explosion took place, and Marvex, "by some strange turn of events," found himself on Earth. Arriving in an unknown city, Marvex used his humanoid appearance to his advantage, buying clothes with money he received for helping a man with his broken-down car. He witnessed an explosion in a room of a high-rise building, and quickly retrieved a man and woman inside. The woman, Clara Crandall, survived, but the man, her father, did not. The man was a scientist who had developed a new battleship armor; spies of unknown origin had stolen his plans and caused the explosion. As Clara explained this to Marvex, a group of said spies drove by and shot at them, but Marvex's strong metal body deflected the bullets. He followed the car and demanded and attained the location of their boss. Marvex found the man, Von Crabb, retrieved the plans, and threw him through the wall of the building, ostensibly to his death.[1]

Marvex maintained his friendship with Crandall, and helped her when he learned that her friend Jim Hansen had been sentenced to death for a murder she was sure he had not committed. Soon after hearing of this, Marvex witnessed an attempted robbery by Spike Green and his gang, and easily prevented their escape, allowing the police to take them into custody. Shortly afterward, a passing car driven by more of Green's men captured Marvex in a steel net and drove him to the pier, throwing him into the ocean. Marvex escaped and made his way to the gang's hideout, where he overheard that Green was the real culprit of the murder of which Hansen was accused, and that he was planning an escape. Marvex subdued the men inside and went to the prison to inform the warden of Green's impending escape. The warden blew off Marvex's warning moments before Green started a riot in the mess hall. Marvex quelled the prisoners himself, apprehending Green and obtaining a confession that he was guilty of murder and that Hansen was innocent.[2]

After thwarting a bank robbery, Marvex received a note from a Dr. Narr requesting his presence. When Marvex arrived at Narr's tower, he was ambushed by a group of other robots and restrained on Narr's operating table so that the scientist could figure out what made Marvex tick. Marvex sent a distress sigrnal to Clara Crandall's radio, alerting her to his capture. She presently arrived at Narr's lab, smashing the control panel and sending Narr's robots into a frenzy. Marvex destroyed the robots, and Narr dove from the window to his death after loosing a bomb into the tower. Marvex and Clara escaped, and Marvex resumed his pursuit of the gang responsible for the earlier bank robbery, taking Brad Lewis and his gang into custody.[3] Marvex's fate following these events is unknown.
