Bor was a king of Asgard and the father of Odin. In approximately 3000 BCE, he prevented Malekith and his army of Dark Elves from using the Aether to plunge the universe into darkness. Bor claimed the Aether and tucked it away in a hidden part of the Nine Realms in an attempt to conceal it forever.[1]
