Black Widow (Claire Voyant)

The Black Widow, born Claire Voyant, is a former psychic medium and follower of the demon Satan. She is tasked with killing evildoers on Earth and bringing their souls to the underworld.

Biography

In 1940, medium Claire Voyant attempted to perform a seance for a family—a mother and her grown son and daughter—to contact their departed husband and father. The mother expressed disrespect for Voyant's powers, and Voyant was unwittingly overcome by the power of Satan. She cast a curse on the family, and all but the son died in a car crash that night. As Claire stressed over why she had suddenly put that curse on them, she was accosted in her home by the surviving member of the family. He shot and killed her, and the image of Satan appeared and drove him away. Satan took Claire's body "through a path of eternal fire" and transformed her into his powerful minion, the Black Widow. He sent her back to Earth to avenge her own death, and she killed her attacker with a powerful fire blast to the face, branding the symbol of the Black Widow into his forehead. Satan congratulated her and prepared her for her future of bringing him the souls of wicked evildoers.
