Doctor Manyac

Doctor Manyac, full name unknown, is a chemist who devised a formula the "Green Flame," a paradoxical fire that was freezing cold to the touch. Manyac's henchmen (themselves called Green Flames) donned asbestos suits and doused themselves in the Green Flame, running roughshod on New York City and invoking martial law. When the Human Torch returned to New York, Manyac's plans for conquering the city were forced into a higher priority. He kidnapped Maizie, an undercover police officer who'd been working on Manyac's case. The combined efforts of the Torch, Maizie, and Johnson were nonetheless able to apprehend Manyac, bringing him to justice and ending the threat of the Green Flames.
